My writing/editorial skills may be applied to a wide range of subjects and business sectors, but contemporary visual art, art history, history, tourism, finance, accountancy, insurance, law, corporate communications, environmental issues, education, medicine and marketing would be areas of special interest.
I commenced my career in advertising and later worked as a freelance writer and consultant before joining the major international accounting and consultancy firm KPMG as head of communications and publications where I remained for a decade before setting up my own public relations/communications consultancy – Barrett Business Communications.
Managing publishing projects for the late Dr. Tony Ryan (founder of Ryanair) and members of his family relating to interests in Ireland, the UK and Kentucky USA, Chartered Accountants Ireland, Ronan Daly Jermyn Solicitors, Number 10 Ormond Quay, Food Safety Promotions Board, The Pensions Board, European Commission, National Qualifications Authority of Ireland, Health Information Quality Authority (HIQA), Checkmate Bulgaria (Sofia), Allianz Insurance, The Environmental Protection Agency, The Arts Council, Merrion Square Interiors and Vermillion Design.
I continue to work on a freelance basis for a number of Irish publishing companies, including Irish Academic Press, Educate.ie, Chartered Accountants Ireland and Engineers Ireland. Most recently I have undertaken major editing contracts for the Government of the Republic of Macadonia and English Trackers, Bejing, China.
